# Appearance

Clothing scripts used by Striga Multicharacter. illenium, fivem-appearance, qb-clothing, skinchanger or your own.

Config key: `appearance` in `config.json`. Default `"auto"`. Client only.

Used where a Striga script shows or dresses a character, for example the character select of Striga Multicharacter.

## Built-in adapters

| Name                  | Clothing script     |
| --------------------- | ------------------- |
| `illenium-appearance` | illenium-appearance |
| `fivem-appearance`    | fivem-appearance    |
| `qb-clothing`         | qb-clothing         |
| `skinchanger`         | skinchanger (ESX)   |
| `none`                | No clothing script  |

## Auto detect

Core takes the first one it finds, in this order: `illenium-appearance`, `fivem-appearance`, `qb-clothing`, `skinchanger`. Running resources win first, then installed ones. None → `none`.

## Your own clothing script

```json
"appearance": "my-clothing"
```

Required: `applyToPed`, `firstCharacter`, `loadsOnLogin`, `applyToPlayer`.

```lua
exports['striga-core']:RegisterAdapter('appearance', 'my-clothing', {
    -- dress a preview ped, return true when done
    applyToPed = function(ped, skin) exports['my-clothing']:ApplySkin(ped, skin) return true end,
    -- open the creator for a new character (gender 0 = male, 1 = female)
    firstCharacter = function(gender, onSave) exports['my-clothing']:OpenCreator(gender) end,
    -- does your script dress the player itself after login?
    loadsOnLogin = function() return true end,
    -- look = { model, skin }, used when loadsOnLogin() is false
    applyToPlayer = function(look) exports['my-clothing']:ApplySkin(PlayerPedId(), look.skin) end,
})
## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.
Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:
```
GET https://striga.gitbook.io/docs/striga-core/integration/appearance.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```
`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
